Punk's calendar for the year 1979 is probably even rarer than the '78 calendar. It was produced on the cheap on legal-size paper (8.5" x 14"), stapled at the top. Months feature Sid Vicious of the Sex Pistols, Fonzie mutilated and juxtaposed with Rondo Hatton (taken right off the wall of the office when John realized we had one more month to fill), Paul & Linda McCartney offering a visual review of Punk #3, Debbie Harry of Blondie, Coca-Cola, Frankie Avalon & Annette Funicello, the Ramones (of course), Barbara Steele, and cartooning by John Holmstrom, Ken Weiner (a.k.a. Ken Avidor), and me (March... or die).
This copy is in excellent condition. I could call it "mint," since it was never sold to anyone or hung on a wall, except for the fact that it has yellowed some over the years, especially on the back page (cheap paper). It's followed me from the Punk office downtown, to the Punk storefront setup on 9th St., to my apartment, to another apartment, to my mom's basement in Kansas, and now to my very own basement. Each of those changes in location involved varying degrees of pain-in-th-ass. But now, thanks to the wonders of the modern world, the next step in this calendar's incredible journey can be accomplished with almost no effort at all on your part. Just click the ADD TO CART link to the left, and it practically transpots itself into your hands.
